General Motors CFO Dhivya Suryadevara resigns; John Stapleton named acting GM CFO

General Motors Chief Financial OfficerDhivya Suryadevara has resigned from the company after two years in the role to pursue a job outside the auto industry. 

GM said John Stapleton, the company’s North America chief financial officer, will serve as acting global chief financial officer, effective Aug. 15.

Suryadevara, the first woman to serve as GM, has joined Stripe, a global online payments company based in San Francisco, as its new CFO, Stripe said in a news release Tuesday. 

“I’m very excited to join Stripe at a pivotal time for the company. Stripe’s mission to increase the GDP of the internet is more important now than ever,” Suryadevara said in Stripe’s release. “I really enjoy leading complex, large-scale businesses and I hope to use my skills to help accelerate Stripe’s already steep growth trajectory.”

How COVID-19 Made Acting Lessons Accessible to Me

As an actress with cerebral palsy, I have two needs: Acting lessons for training and transportation to take me there. I have recently moved to Frederick, MD. Back when I lived in Burtonsville, I was much closer to Washington, D.C., the place to study acting in this heart of America. But it doesn’t mean Uber trips were cheap. I began my training at The Theatre Lab last summer. My “Intro to Acting” class was an early Saturday morning class. I could take an $18 Uber ride to Silver Spring and take an easy Metro ride there. Rinse and repeat for the ride home. One of the various reasons was why I took a morning class is because Uber rides are much cheaper in the morning than the evening.
