Buckingham Palace Has Responded to Prince Harry’s Call to Vote

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are urging Americans to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming presidential election. But Buckingham Palace, in true Buckingham Palace fashion, is distancing itself from all that.

On September 22nd—aka National Voter Registration Day—the Duke and Duchess of Sussex appeared in a short video during the ABC broadcast revealing the 2020 TIME 100, the magazine’s annual list of the world’s 100 most influential people. As alumni of the list, the couple sent a message of congratulations and gratitude for this year’s participants. Then, they took the opportunity to express the importance of voting this year (and every year, but seriously, especially this year).

“Every four years we are told the same thing, that this is the most important election of our lifetime,” Markle said. “But this one is. When we vote, our values are put into action and our voices

White House hints at new airline bailout; Pelosi, experts call new CDC guidelines ‘scary and dangerous’

Laveta Brigham

The White House may provide relief to airline workers to keep them employed if Congress fails to reach agreement on a package for them, President Donald Trump’s chief of staff said Wednesday.

And the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention changed its COVID-19 testing guidelines and now says people without symptoms “do not necessarily need a test” – even if they’ve been exposed to COVID-19.

The move comes a week after the CDC updated travel guidelines that no longer mandate a 14-day quarantine for anyone who’s traveled outside of their state or the country. The revisions to CDC guidelines have been met with concern by medical experts, who caution that less testing may lead to more cases and hinder contact tracing efforts.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi also condemned the revised CDC guidelines on testing, saying Wednesday it “reinforces the lack of attention and understanding that we have to have in

Should I Call The Police To Report Identity Theft?

Laveta Brigham

If your identity is stolen, the police aren’t well equipped to investigate it. This is part of a HuffPost series looking at alternatives to policing. You can read the other pieces here.

Someone used my personal information to commit fraud. What should I do?

As many as 1 in 10 people in the U.S. are the victims of identity theft each year; 21% of those victims experience multiple incidents in a single year. Common examples include credit card fraud, employment or tax fraud and utilities fraud.

If you find that your credit card number was stolen or your Social Security number was used to file a fraudulent tax return, your first instinct may be to call the police. That instinct isn’t necessarily wrong, but it might not get you the results you want. Identity theft is most certainly a crime, but unlike a burglary or physical assault, it’s much tougher

Kirsten Hove and her mom have been taking care of kids in San Francisco for decades.

Hove’s mother opened a day care program in her home in the city’s Marina neighborhood more than 30 years ago. In 2006, Hove and a family friend expanded the business by opening sites in their apartments nearby. The days were long, but the women loved the work.

What took years to build, however, was dismantled by the coronavirus in just a few months.

When Californians were ordered to shelter in place in March, Hove, her mother and their friend were forced to close completely for a week and then
