The coronavirus pandemic has had devastating effects on many areas of our lives. Hospitals have had to deal with shortages of personal protective equipment and ventilators. Many people have lost jobs and have struggled with food insecurity as a result. Vulnerable communities don’t have access to necessary preventive items like face masks and hand sanitizer.
Even though numerous major companies have been struggling financially as a result of the pandemic, many have made a commitment to donate money, equipment and other items to those who need it most in light of the current health crisis. Here’s how 30 big companies are giving back.

Hanes has partnered with Invisible People to distribute 1 million face masks to homeless people across the country. The masks will be distributed through homeless service providers nationwide, including hard-hit communities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Houston, New York, Boston and Puerto Rico.
“Masks have become so important and vital to our safety, but for a homeless person, especially in cities and communities that have made masks mandatory, they need to be able to get into a store or to be able to get on public transportation. Without a mask, they can’t do it,” said Mark Horvath, founder of Invisible People. “Keep in mind homeless people don’t have access to the internet nor do they have an address to have masks shipped to them. Hanes providing these masks is amazing.”
Nestlé partnered with the meal subscription company Freshly to make a donation of $500,000 to Meals on Wheels amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“As this crisis continues to disrupt the lives of our employees, consumers and communities, this is one of the ways we’re mobilizing relief efforts across the U.S., and around the world to help,” Steve Presley, chairman and CEO of Nestlé USA, said in a press release. “I’m proud of the collective efforts across Nestlé and the industry to extend our support to communities in this time of need.”
“We’re working hard to lift up our healthcare community responding to COVID-19,” Allbirds said in a statement on its website.
4. Kendra Scott
Austin-based jewelry retailer Kendra Scott is donating 50% of all proceeds from its Everlyne Bracelet to Feeding America’s COVID-19 response fund, which is aiding food banks that support communities impacted by the pandemic. The company also donated 500,000 meals to kickstart the campaign, Spectrum News reported.
5. MAC Cosmetics
MAC’s Viva Glam fund donated $10 million to a number of organizations working on the frontlines to provide aid, essential healthcare services, and food to at-risk individuals and vulnerable communities affected by COVID-19. Those organizations include Housing Works, Harmony Home Association, Partners in Health and God’s Love We Deliver.

In response to the hand sanitizer shortage that occurred at the beginning of the pandemic, Orly International reconfigured its Los Angeles-based nail polish factory operations to produce hand sanitizer. It donated the first 10,000 units produced to the city of Los Angeles, with a special emphasis on providing sanitizer to the city’s at-risk homeless population.
7. The Honest Company
Donating 3 million diapers, 30,000 packs of wipes and 20,000 personal care items to impacted families
“These essential items will be distributed through family resource centers, homeless shelters, health clinics and head start centers to families impacted by the spread of COVID-19,” The Honest Company states on its site.
Chewy partnered with GreaterGood.org and other nonprofit partners to donate pet food, healthcare supplies and other products to animal welfare organizations that have been hit hard by the economic impact of the coronavirus.
“By partnering with GreaterGood.org, we are able to direct resources to pets in highly impacted regions who need it most,” Sumit Singh, CEO at Chewy, said in a company blog post. “We hope that our donation makes it possible for many shelters to continue to save pets’ lives through this difficult time.”
“The mental health of our social workers, nurses, doctors and other health personnel is now paramount,” Talkspace CEO and co-founder Oren Frank said in a company blog post. “They are on the frontlines of a rapidly growing pandemic, putting their own health and safety at risk to save others affected by the outbreak. At Talkspace, we feel it’s our responsibility to ensure they can access the care they need, in order to provide the care America needs from them right now.”

“We’re continuing to work together to identify solutions to meet the most urgent and pressing needs during this crisis,” Adidas states on its website.
In March, Aerosoles announced on Instagram that it would be donating its “most comfortable sneakers to those who are on their feet fighting COVID-19.” The brand had donated 1,000 pairs of shoes by April.

Anthropologie partnered with Sanctuary and Merci Handy to donate masks and hand sanitizers, respectively, to healthcare workers on the frontlines of the pandemic.
The Coach Foundation partnered with Goldman Sachs and the city of New York to donate $3 million to NYC’s Small Business Continuity Fund to help the most vulnerable businesses affected by COVID-19. The Foundation also donated $300,000 to a nonprofit that supports low-income families in the Bronx who have lost their primary earner due to the coronavirus. In addition, the Foundation committed $200,000 to support the coronavirus frontline assistance charities selected by its European employees, $200,000 to the Council of Fashion Designers and Vogue Fashion Fund’s A Common Thread, and $50,000 to the
British Fashion Council’s Covid Crisis Fund.
The Coach brand is also donating over $3.5 million worth of Coach products to COVID-19-related charities and impacted individuals.
“Crocs has always been a brand that encourages everyone to be comfortable in their own shoes,” the company states on its website. “In the face of adversity and the coronavirus pandemic, many individuals needed that feeling more than ever. To do our part to help, we began our Sharing a Free Pair for Healthcare program.”
The program provides free shoes for healthcare workers on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic.
DoorDash parented with (RED) to enable consumers to give back to the Global Fund’s COVID-19 Response through a variety of initiatives, including campaign merchandise, a donation website and exclusive virtual experiences with celebrity chefs. DoorDash also made a direct donation of $500,000 to the fund.
DSW is partnering with Camuto Group and Reebok to donate new shoes to frontline workers and families affected by the global health crisis. The company is also encouraging its customers to donate new or gently-worn shoes to DSW for distribution to those affected by COVID-19 in exchange for 50 rewards points.
Dyson designed and built an entirely new ventilator, called the “CoVent,” specifically to meet the needs of the coronavirus pandemic. Company founder James Dyson said the company would be donating 5,000 units to the international effort to fight the crisis, CNN reported.

18. Eddie Bauer
In March, Eddie Bauer shifted its production to focus on making face masks. The company’s president, Damien Huang, said that 20,000 masks — including 5,000 N95s — would be sent to the Washington State Department of Enterprise Services to be distributed to local hospitals, KIRO 7 reported.
Donated over 70,000 pieces of H&M items to local organizations; donated $500,000 to the World Health Organization
H&M has been manufacturing large quantities of personal protective equipment that is being donated to hospitals and healthcare workers around the world. In addition, the company’s U.S. arm of H&M has donated bedding, sheets and adult and children’s clothes to organizations that include the Children’s Defense Fund, The Los Angeles LGBT Center, GLAM4GOOD and the Nashville Rescue Mission. The nonprofit H&M Foundation has also made a donation to the World Health Organization to help prevent the spread of the pandemic.
20. Home Depot
Home Depot has donated millions of dollars worth of personal protective equipment and other products to hospitals, healthcare providers and first responders. In addition, the retailer has stopped the sale of N95 masks in stores and on HomeDepot.com and redirected all shipments to be donated to hospitals, healthcare providers and first responders.
21. Hugo Boss
“We recognize the important role we have as a global company with the capability to do something for the greater good,” Stephan Born, president and CEO, Americas, at Hugo Boss, said in a letter on the company’s website. “Therefore, HUGO BOSS donated 20% percent of online sales from March 27th to April 5th to the American Red Cross. We have also dedicated our clothing production site at [our] global headquarters in Metzingen, Germany to manufacture cloth face masks, face shields and protective clothing. These will be donated to public facilities around the world in need.”
Joann invited its crafting customers to come to workshops on how to make face masks, covers, gowns and other items to donate to America’s hospitals. Joann provided and donated 100% of the supplies needed for these projects. As of early August, Joann, its partners and its customers had made and distributed over 230 million masks.

23. New Balance
New Balance partnered with a group of athletes, including Milos Raonic, Sydney McLaughlin, Dejounte Murray, Rose Lavelle, Rob Pannell, Trayvon Bromell, Joey Gallo and Zdeno Chara, to donate more than $1 million worth of footwear — over 13,000 pairs of shoes — to frontline medical workers. In addition, the New Balance Foundation committed $2 million in nonprofit grants in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to support local, regional and global communities. Funds were distributed to a number of organizations, including Global Giving and No Kid Hungry.
Nike has donated to both global and local coronavirus response efforts, including the World Health Organization, Oregon Food Bank, COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund and the China Youth Development Foundation. Nike has also donated more than $5.5 million worth of footwear, apparel and equipment to frontline workers across the world. In addition, Nike’s two-to-one giving match for all employee donations has provided $2 million to support organizations worldwide.
Nordstrom’s alterations teams in Washington, Oregon, Texas and California partnered with Kaas Tailored to sew more than 100,000 masks that will be distributed to Providence Health & Services.
Rothy’s partnered with Mask Match, a peer-to-peer platform that helps pair groups providing masks with people and organizations that need them most, to donate 100,000 nonmedical masks. Rothy’s also donated $20,000 to Direct Relief to help provide protective masks, exam gloves and isolation gowns to healthcare organizations throughout the United States.

“To support Mothers and Children in need during this time, SKIMS is committed to donating $1M to families affected by COVID-19,” Kim Kardashian West’s shapewear brand announced on Instagram in March.
28. The Body Shop
The Body Shop donated care packages with shampoos, conditioners, shower gel and hand cream to frontline workers around the world, and 50,000 necessary products to local hospitals, food banks and homeless shelters.
29. The North Face
The North Face committed to donating 60,000 gloves to healthcare professionals and first responders in Colorado. The company also donated $1 million to support outdoor communities all over the world, allocating funds to places with critical needs.
Wayfair has donated 1,000 bedside tables, 800 tray tables and 200 mattresses to convention centers and hospitals that are housing coronavirus patients around the country and world. The company has also donated $2.3 million to Feeding America, raised through sales during its Save Big, Give Back event, and an additional $250,000 to employee-chosen charities that are helping those impacted by COVID-19 around the globe.
