It looks like there are tricky times ahead for Mackenzie Hargreaves and her estranged father Grant in upcoming Neighbours episodes. But could there be a turning point?

Grant (Paul Mercurio) has struggled to accept Mackenzie’s transition, but Mackenzie (Georgie Stone) is cautiously optimistic they can get their relationship back on track when he reaches out with a friend request online and arranges to visit Erinsborough.

Unfortunately, little does Mackenzie know that the real reason for the visit is that Grant has suffered an injury and is seeking Toadie’s legal advice.

Things soon start to look up as Mackenzie begins to spend some time with Grant and she starts to get excited about their blossoming relationship – but is everything as it seems?

Later, Mackenzie and Grant make tentative strides in their relationship, but when the topic of Lassiters Pride comes up, Grant is clearly uncomfortable.

Things get even more complicated when Dipi hears how unsure Grant is about his future work and financial situation, leaving her all the more concerned that Grant is going to disappoint Mackenzie – and she’s also left furious when she discovers that Shane has given Grant money without consulting her too.

The pressure is on for Grant to prove he wants to get to know his daughter, and Shane feels responsible for helping him. However, much to Mackenzie’s disbelief, her dad does go along with her to an Erinsborough Pride event.

Grant awkwardly partakes in various parts of the Pride event, including a Rainbow Bingo game hosted by celebrity guest Courtney Act. When Grant wins the game he is called up on stage by Courtney, and Mackenzie is touched when Grant introduces her to everyone as his daughter.

But has Grant really taken a step forward, or has he simply gotten better at covering his struggle to accept Mackenzie and her community?

Neighbours airs these scenes on Thursday, June 25 at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5.
