HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — This week the Havre de Grace Art Show is going virtual. For 2020, the event sponsored by Soroptimist International of Havre de Grace plans to showcase artists online.

Traditionally, the art show has brought artists, food vendors and entertainers in addition to thousands of visitors to Tydings Park.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the show’s organizers decided the summer event would not be possible in its traditional form.

The Havre de Grace Art Show, which is in its 57th year, raises money for college scholarships. In an attempt to deliver on that promise and to help exhibitors, art show organizers say they have been working on the virtual event since late May.

Several vendors have donated items that art show organizers will be raffling off in the next several days.

“There has been just an outpouring of generosity from our exhibitors and local businesses,” Havre de Grace Art Show Coordinator Cindy Height said

Among the raffle items are a necklace from Moon and Sea Creations of Havre de Grace, a painting kit from JoRetro and a beer and dining package from Hopkins Brewery and more.

The virtual deals run through 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 16.

“Everyone tells us how much they look forward to the show each year in the park,” Height said. “Our plan is to return to the park next year, and we thank everyone who has contributed.”
