Meet the Battle Creek Enquirer Athletes of the Week, presented by Oaklawn Hospital.

Each week during the high school sports season, we ask our readers to vote for the top performance of the week in all sports, taking a look at events from Monday-Saturday.

Make sure to vote early and often for your pick, as the winner will get an Enquirer Athlete of the Week T-shirt. Fans can vote online at for their favorite athlete until 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Camille DeCola

Marshall Girls Cross Country

Just a freshman, Camille DeCola led the Marshall girls cross country team to first place in the Calhoun County Championships. DeCola had a personal best 20:11 to take first overall and has helped the Redhawks remain undefeated this year.

Ryne Petersen

Pennfield Football

A senior quarterback, Ryne Petersen helped Pennfield to the school’s first-ever win over Lumen Christi in football. With the 28-20 win, Pennfield goes to 2-2 as Petersen had 58 yards rushing and two scores, plus 117 yards passing, including a touchdown pass.

Hannah Keenan

Lakeview Volleyball

Lakeview went undefeated over the weekend, including wins over Coldwater, Charlotte and Loy Norrix, and has had a strong season so far, being led by a strong group of seniors. The Spartans’ Hannah Keenan is playing all six rotations, averaging 2.4 kills per set with six service aces during the week, 54 digs and 11 blocks.

Jordan Eckman

St. Philip Football

St. Philip earned its first win of the season and scored more points in the win over Litchfield than the last three games combined, winning 42-6. Jordan Eckman had 132 yards rushing on 16 carries and added two interceptions on defense for the Tigers.
